Finally, 13 days overdue, my baby boy George Alexander arrived yesterday at 6.02am, after a 30 hour+ induced labour. I was scared of induction and really appreciated people's support here on Mmsnet. It was not that bad and all worth it in the end to have my baby arrive.

Thanks again to everyone for their support!

Fantastic news. Enjoy those wonderful magical first days - they are soooo precious. And so glad your induction was better than mine!!

Lainey1981 - I had accepted I was going to have to go to induction because there was no movement at all. I went in Tuesday afternoon at 3pm and had a pessary inserted. Contractions started late Tuesday night, early Wednesday morning and by Wednesday at 9am I was having contrations about 7-8 minutes apart. They were very painful by Wednesday evening so they gave me some paracetemol with another painkiller. I also got into the bath in the induction ward which really really helped. I lay there for about 2 hours. I then had to have some morphine about 10pm because the pain was making it impossible for me to get any sleep and I knew I had a way to go. 5am Wednesday morning the contractions started becoming painful again and I was still in the induction ward as they said the labour ward didn't have a room. I started getting annoyed and demanding they take me there Shock!! I am not normally demanding at all but I was yelling at my husband to get them to take me to the labour ward. 5 minutes later I sat up and my waters broke and they rushed me to the labour and George arrived 45 minutes later (with the help of gas and air which is marvellous stuff!!).

So really I am not sure whether a natural labour would have been different - perhaps the contractions would not have lasted as long. So don't worry too much. It's all worth it in the end.Smile
