Im 23 weeks mpregnant with baby number one....and it seems its time to start talking about the birth ( aaaaah ) As much as i'd love to have a natural birth, it looks like i may have to go for a c - section because of hip problems.....just wanted to hear about some real experiences? Good or bad....

I've had a few, all good. I'm marking my place and will respond when dcs are in bed.

Mine was an emcs, and I'm hoping to have an elective this time. Once we were in theatre it was calm, no pain. I got to cuddle DS right away, DH was there holding my hand.

What was traumatic was being in labour for 30 hours and then having to have a section. I was a bit out of it because I had had sooo many drugs already, but this wouldn't apply with an elective.

The only negatives are the longer recovery period, but if you have a planned section then you can organise to have more help and support around you for longer, get shopping deliveries set up for the time you are unable to drive etc etc.

I've had 3. 1st was emergency after over 30 hrs in labour. That was pretty awful - mainly the labour part though. Once they said that her heart beat was irregular and stopping and she had to come out NOW everything happened very quickly and I was a bit dazed and confused about the whole process. It was a relief, but a bit of a shock.

You'd be having an elective though. My second and third were elective and they were great. Really happy, relaxed affairs. Everyone laughing and joking and chatting in the theatre, babies were quickly checked over then the theatre staff helped to tuck them under my hospital gown onto my chest so that I could cuddle them skin to skin as I was stitched up.

After all three sections I was helped to breastfeed as soon as we were in the recovery room and had no issues in that regard. I was up and shuffling around approx 6 hrs after the op.

I had no particular recovery issues.

So basically all 3 sections went very well for me. If you do have to have one it really isn't something that you need to get worried about.
