hi,

I am term+13 and (still) resisting getting inducted. was inducted with DC1 (also late) and don't really want that again.

hospital is monitoring me (had scan and have regular ctg) but they asked me to think about a day for induction. was told that woman usually do not go 16 days over (was told they become too twitchy by then). I am really torn as to how long to wait. hospital told me they really would not want me to go over term+18 (fine by me) but wonder if I should get inducted earlier.

MWs say it is a personal choice, DP says it is up to me, other people think I am mad still carrying the bump around but I feel fine (though I am concerned about the risks of dragging it out too much). I just can't work my head around it.

are there other very late mums here? how do you go about it?

cheers,
littleE

did I write "inducted" - I mean induced. maybe this is a sign I should speed things up Hmm

40+14 was the limit that I was willing to go to. I was induced with my last baby at that point. I was induced with my first baby at 40+13.
Had a dreadful time with the first induction but the 2nd time was straightforward and just the same as my spontaneous labours/deliveries.

I wasn't willing to risk any longer than the 14 days over and tbh I was a bit twitchy once I'd gone 10days over.

Good luck with whatever you decide and wishing you an easy time with it all.

thanks - interesting article.

I started feeling really, really tired today (think baby moved down a bit more, can't suddenly even get out of the car on my own (2 days ago I was still kicking the ball with DC1 in the park!). have appointment tomorrow for ctg and to discuss induction. I think I will ask to get the baby evicted ASAP... if I don't, I think I might really bring another Jackie Chan into this world :o

Sounds like baby might very well be going to put an appearance in soon anyway.
I went to term plus 18 with both my boys, no way was I being induced - had monitoring with both (BUT I was sure of my dates).
It's a personal decision, good luck whatever you decide Smile

I've agreed to 40+13.

It is my choice.

They are very good at making you feel like you need to be induced before this though aren't they....

I am too nervous of taking on any additional risk as I wouldn't forgive myself... so 42 weeks was my limit.
