Nausea and Period Like Cramping - Pre-labour?

piccalily · 24/11/2010 07:11

I have been up since 5.30am with the above. Yesterday throughout the day was pretty much the same. Sometimes the cramping can last for ages so I'm pretty sure its not full blown labour yet. Argh - I feel so clueless!

Sounds like pre-labour but unfortunately doesn't mean much in terms of timescale :( I have been feeling like that on and off for the last couple of weeks and nothing yet (am 39+4)

MrsSnaplegs · 24/11/2010 07:27

Have to say I've had it on and off for a few weeks now - it seems fairly common! Up since 0400 with it this am so slow start today

lainey1981 · 24/11/2010 09:35

snap, am 40+3 today and had the same for the last 2 and half weeks. hoping it will all lead somewhere v soon.

I'm on the November ante-natal thread and it depresses me to think there are people on the december one popping before me Grin

good luck

Sad Sad Sad

I have taken some paracetamol (which I feel guilty about because of the current research). Just waiting for it to kick in.

Here's hoping we're all destined for easy labours because of all this prior preparation our bodies are doing!!! Grin

Well as I say it has been on and off, so it hasn't been too bad. Just keep getting excited then nothing develops which is frustrating.

Jobob80 · 24/11/2010 14:46

Don't feel guilty about the paracetamol, piccalily. The research was done in Sweden and only really tells us anything about people who used mixed painkillers throughout their pregnancy. Guidelines remain that paracetamol is as safe as we can ascertain, and that taking it occasionally shouldn't cause any issues.

BBC news had one day during my pregnancy (I'm 40+2) where they ran two articles to do with pregnancy. The first one I read said that pregnant women are being made anxious by conflicting guidelines. The second one said that pregnant women are wearing the wrong sorts of shoes. We've got more than enough to worry about these days!

MrsSnaplegs · 24/11/2010 17:11

Definately don't feel guilty about having to take the odd Paracetomol I have another med condition which means I have to take regular strong painkillers and have had the all clear for those from consultant
Finished my last day at work so I am happy for birth anytime now! DH said can we make it before midnight so he can get it announced on test match special when the cricket starts tonight Grin
My DD was born 8 days late the day after we won the ashes in 2005!! If she was a boy she would have been named after the whole team. DH is looking forward to a Ds this time!

Oscalito · 25/11/2010 11:44

i woke up with period-like cramping.... went to the doc today for a sweep and now have some bleeding as well. I'm booked in for an induction on Monday (I'm 41 weeks today), i forgot to ask the obstetrician what percentage of women don't make it to their induction date....

I'm hoping they book you in to give your body a bit of a scare and get things going.

Having said that, I've reached the point now where I am just going to make the most of the free time and relax with some DVDs. Have nested like mad for a while and everything is done and whatever happens I should have a baby by Tuesday.

Good luck to everyone else.....

MrsSnaplegs · 25/11/2010 17:00

Good luck oscalito

seeminglyso · 26/11/2010 23:52

I have had really bad contractions for the past ten nights and had nausea for the past two weeks. My EDD is tomorrow. I wish this baby would hurry up :(

piccalily · 27/11/2010 11:01

Thanks for the reassurance re paracetamol.

MrsSnaplegs, I too am expecting a boy Smile

Went to the hospital on Thursday because the period type pain I was having was there constantly. They asked me to pop in because they wanted to check my previous c section scar was holding up ok. All is well and I got back home yesterday evening. The ctg (I think that is what it is called) showed some regular contractions so they admitted me thinking ds might put in an appearance that night but it all fizzled out to nothing by Friday morning.

Not even so much as a braxton hick today! lol typical

How is everyone else? Any news?
