Big Babies - it can be done!

I last posted to say how fed up I was at 40+6 and still waiting for dc3 to arrive. I was also concerned about the size of my baby as previously they had been 9lb15 and 10lb7 when born at 39 and 40 weeks.

Anyway just thought this might reassure those who have been told that they are having a big baby. My daughter was born last monday 12 days overdue following induction by rupture of membranes. labour lasted 1hr40mins and she weighed 11lb11.5ozs!! No stitches or tears. So good luck to all those expecting big babies I think in general we make babies the right size for us.

Congratulations!

Ooh congratulations!

I had a big baby too - DS (2nd child) was 11 days late and was 11lbs 14oz, much easier birth.

Am so so glad they didn't know just how big he was (dr felt my tummy in the morning and said oh he's not that big lol) - I know a few people who have been forced to have c sections because of baby's size (with no evidence of cephalopelvic disproportion which does need elcs) and I have to say it was pretty empowering giving birth to such a monster :o

wow greenbeanie congratulations, and big respect to you.
did you know she was going to be a big baby (other than having an inkling due to previous DCs sizes?)

I have been told my baby is between 7-8lbs but i just have a feeling we're going to have a surprise big baby and they have got it wrong (first DC not sure why i think this), but good to know it can be done ...

am 40+1 and hoping not to have to wait much longer to find out Smile

I had been told all along that she would be big, had a scan at 39wks which estimated 10lb in weight then but also told how inaccurate scans can be for big babies, a scan at 34 weeks estimated 7lb10. I think I knew that she would be big but secretly hoped that they had got it wrong!!

Hope all goes well for you Lainey, let us know.

Blimey, congratulations and well done!

My DS was 10lb. I had been warned but hoped the growth scan was inaccurate . . .
