Lochia - how much is too much? (TMI alert!)

Hello,
I gave birth to ds2 14 days ago and have been having problems with the bleeding for the last week or so. Initially it tapered off to the brown discharge but last few days it's gone bright red again in the evenings and the pad is soaked by morning (mostly discharge in the evening and tapering off as I freak out and go to bed and check in the morning)

I haven't been doing too much by any standards - dh has been doing everything and I am just taking care of me and baby.

So, is it too much or am I just being squeamish and silly....

It doesn't really sound like too much to me.
I was told to look out for: filling a pad an hour over a few hours, a strange smell or clots the size of ... some sort of friut, bozarrely. A plum perhaps.

It will calm down but can take well over a month, and that can be fine.

No clots? Quite often happens after a couple of weeks, I found my loss got heavier at around two weeks all three times :)

Oppps, crap typing. Must be a tad weary...

Small clots. I was told to watch for clots the size of a 50p coin.

The last 2 times, it settled down really quick and thats what I was expecting. Also, maybe I'm anaemic because I'm getting tired easily and still feel weak. That probably makes it worse.

I passed a clot the size of a pack of butter - the nurses seemed totally unpeturbed by that (48 hours after). Yours sounds fine - although I'm no doctor! Wink

I am having exactly the same worries, bright red bleeding very heavy 13 days post delivery midwife said as long as there is no clots bigger then 50p, strange smells or stomach tenderness it will be fine.
It is also my 3rd baby so maybe it's something to do with that.
