TENS for after pains

Expecting DC2's arrival anyday and have been warned that after pains can be worse than after 1st delivery.

Am planning to use TENS during labour as I think it helped last time and saw in instruction booklet that it can be used for after pains.

The instructions aren't very clear about electrode placement, I think it is suggesting 2 at the back (as used during labour) and then 2 at the front over lower abdomen (placed vertically as at back).

I'd be grateful for feedback from anyone who has used TENS for after pains; did it help and does that placement of electrodes sound correct?

TIA

i think your best bet would be to track down your local women's health physiotherapist for advice on this.

theoretically you should get an effect on the spinal nerves supplying the abdomen by only placing the electrodes either side of the spine at the right level.

Thanks, that's a good idea re women's health physio.

Failing that I might go for the single channel electrodes at the back and see how it goes.
