Hi I'm due end of march and have booked with St Georges hospital (Tooting).

I am planning a homebirth this is my 2nd dc first was born 5 yrs ago at uclh.

I'm unfamilar with St georges and have only had 1 appt so far with community mws, so unsure how their homebirth rota works?
i.e are the community mws on call or could it be any one of the hospital mws that are sent?
How did you find them (I'm a student mw myself and am aware that mws practise differently) just looking to hear some experiences good and bad?

Did they try to tell you to come in to hosp stating staff shortages etc...
Thanks in advance

I had St G's midwife - it was all fine except, weirdly, she said that she had never attended a birthpool birth solo and would I mind getting out at the point of delivery Hmm? Luckily for her, the second midwife turned up before then so she didn't have to attempt to drag me out, kicking and screaming, from my lovely pool (there was no bloody way I was leaving). I don't really know what else I can tell you - it was a straightforward planned home birth, they turned up, did their job and went with minimum fuss and were reasonably jolly about things.

Thinking back, I was probably meant to have a midwife from my practice but they were all busy so I got one of the duty ones from St G's. No one tried to talk me into coming in (although they did at another hospital when I had my son).
