Anyone given birth with Round Ligament varicosities?

I'm 23 wks pregnant and just discovered that I have varicosities (varicose veins) of the round ligament. I wondered if anyone else has any experience of this during pregnancy/birth?

It's basically a soft painful lump in my groin. Initially I was told i had an inguinal hernia - this was diagnosed also in my last pregnancy. Anyway, following a scan the specialist says it's varicosites, so would have been last time also.

It resolved immediately after birth last time (ELCS as I had breech twins).

I've been left without any further info by the Drs - they don't seem to have encountered this before Hmm which isn't exactly helpful.

I'm trying for a VBAC this time and really want to know whether this will affect birth or even if it could be risky.

I appreciate it's a long shot but does anyone have any info about this? Please?!
thanks

Hi there, I know this is an old post and you never got a response, but at 24 weeks I've just been diagnosed (after only a brief look) with an inguinal hernia. Reading about it online, it seems it could also be round ligament varicosities but needs more investigation - and I won't be seeing my consultant for another four weeks, grr! They told me absolutely nothing about it, except to watch in case it got worse, didn't even tell me if I was supposed to take it easy or anything!
Anyway, I was just interested in what happened in your case in the end? I'm trying for a VBAC myself this time too and am a bit concerned about the implications!
Thanks, Bx

Hi, I’m new here, expecting first baby in 8 weeks…. and have been diagnosed with Round Ligament Varicosities on my left side.
There is limited information on how this affects birth. Has anyone experienced or know someone who has?
It’s very painful and was initially wrongly diagnosed as inegural hernia.

This is a mass / lump developed to the left hand side of groin with swelling. Painful when moving.
It resides when lying down. But going from lying to standing is horrific pain.
It was diagnosed via an ultrasound.

Any information know would be appreciated.

Thank you
S Gardiner
