Just how long can this last?!!?

Oh my goodness, I'm beginning to get REALLY frustrated now!

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday this week I've had a clear show, and Thursday night I had period type pain through the night (not much sleep).
This was followed by substantial bloody show on Friday, cramping throughout Friday night, and a run of bloody shows through Saturday (along with mild cramps/pains every 15 mins or so).
Light bleeding (bright red but not too much) and further bloody shows have continued from around 7pm last night, with mild contractions every 6-10 minutes.... (so for 12 hours, with just a couple of hours sleep)

I had my tens machine on during yesterday evening and from 4:30am this morning, and had a couple of warm baths before that... The pain is regular, but entirely bearable and it just feels like I could carry on like this forever (or it could even stop?!)

Considering the amount of blood & show that has appeared since Friday AM, I honestly thought I might be in a bit more pain by now... every 6 minutes is all very well, but it's nothing worse than a rather nasty period pain. So it really doesn't feel very 'productive' if you know what I mean?

Does this sound similar to anyone else's experiences at all? Am I going mad?! I feel a little loopy Confused

I'm 39+3, due on Thursday 11th x

Have you spoken to your mw? I would expect them to have taken you in by now to monitor you?

JosephineClaire · 07/11/2010 07:07

I haven't called in at all because my understanding was that you called when one of the following was happening:

  • waters break
  • 3 contractions within 10 mins/one every 5 mins
  • pain becomes unbearable/takes your breath away

None of these have been the case for me so far

Am I wrong?

Lots of sympathy from me. DD was a long time in coming. I was waiting for my contractions to become regularly 5 mins apart but they never did. Rang the labour ward and they wouldn't let me come in and told me to have a bath.

The community midwife eventually came just after my waters broke and made me go in. By that time I was nearly 8cms but very tired as that was Monday lunchtime and I had been having contractions and very little sleep since the Friday morning. Most if my pain was in my back.

With hindsight I wish I had gone in earlier as was totally exhausted with the lack of sleep which I think is the thing when it goes on for ages. I should have just told them I was coming or got the community midwife out earlier. I wouldn't leave it much longer before getting someone to look you over. Good luck !

I'm obvs not an expert but I would think with the bleeds the mw should definitely check you over. Don't worry about putting them out, you're the priority! Good luck. X

Just seen your last message, I was waiting for the same but it didn't happen like that for me and as I said, I was nearly 8cm when my waters finally broke. My contractions were classed as labile and were never regular and the pain was never worse than bad period pain plus bad back ache. Ring someone and don't be fibbed off with not being looked at.

JosephineClaire · 07/11/2010 07:16

Thanks for replying :) the last couple of pains (if I can even call them pains!) have gone back to 8 mins apart, so I might wait for it to get back to 6 mins and then give the MW/labour ward a call. It's really not a large amount of bleeding, just the odd flash of red and not every time I visit the loo, but you're probably right, I should mention it.

Fingers crossed this baby gets moving by tonight! I'm humongous, and so anxious to just have the baby

I feel your pain - still got 4 weeks to go of impersonating a beached whale.

JosephineClaire · 07/11/2010 11:38

Well, everything seems to have stopped completely now, which is incredibly annoying. Off for a walk on our local beach; hopefully things will get moving again soon....

I am exactly the same -40 + 8. Being induced on Wednesday. Had sweep this week after going to hospital to check out high blood pressure.

Feel alike one of those hideous comedy sketches where people keep asking me about the baby. Should just have a sign saying - NOT READY YET

JosephineClaire · 07/11/2010 18:36

Things finally kicking off again - proper contractions, every 5 mins, ow ow ow!!!
