should I sweep or not?

I know there is another thread a bit like this but I am not sure what to do.

I have an appointment with my midwife tomorrow and she said she would do a sweep for me (I will be 38+6). I was induced with first pregnancy which ended with EMCS so I am keen to avoid another one. I have been doing hypnobirthing, acupuncture (I have one session left) and raspberry leaf tea to bring labour on naturally this week. I feel my body is getting there.

My question is would you do it in my situation?

Any reason the MW wants to do a sweep so early?

As another tip... raspberry leaf tea doesn't bring labour on. It is supposed to tone the uterus and help it contract more effectively during labour.

There are other things you can do to ripen your cervix as well, but I'd go for the sweep (if my MW had offered me one this week I've have jumped at it - I'm also 38 + 6 with 3/5 engaged head and VERY uncomfortable). DS has completely run out of room!

The reason why is because she knows I am against having a c so she wants to try to bring the labour on. The way I am feeling today I won't last much longer.

Are you me? I was 39 weeks yesterday and had a sweep. I was in two minds about it, but in the end decided that if I end up with another cs I want to feel that I have done everything I could to get things going "naturally". We agreed that she would "have a look" and see whether a sweep was possible. As it turned out I was 2-3cm dilated so she managed it. No labour since though, but if nothing else I was heartened to know that I was a teeny bit dilated.

Also having acupuncture; have a hypnobirthing cd, and am eating pineapple and curry (but mostly in jest).

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Im in the same state at 40+5 and look & see/sweep booked for sunday. we have done hypnobirthing etc and dont want to jeopardise but equally keen to avoid induction. On balance we are going to go for it and still have a week for further tries then. I'd leave it a little while longer if i were you and get walking everyday!

I'd go with the sweep. I had 4 in the end, and none worked, I was induced at 42 weeks. Is there were anything that might mean induction isn't necessary, I'd try it!!! And I know a few people who have had a sweep and it's worked.

I'm going to go for it in the morning. Have had a bit of plug so hoping this is in my favour...
