first period post birth or yet more problems with infected and open tear??

Hi,
Gave birth to DC1 almost 5 weeks ago and sustained a 2nd degree tear and a urethral tear. Both have since become infected and have opened up and I now have a urinary tract infection and thrush. I have been having yellow discharge although I was bleeding again from urethra last week. Lovely. Last night I noticed bloody discharge on my maternity towel and again this morning. I have read that first periods after childbirth can be "very different" from what you are used to, so I'm hoping that someone out there who is more experienced can give me a bit of advice about whether this may be a period or is likely to be related to the damage down there. It's a small amount of very liquidy and watery pinkish discharge - not thicker and the bright red or brown that menstrual blood is at the beginning of a period. Anyone?? Thanks .

I had my first period about 5 weeks after dd was born, wasn't breast feeding, it was really light but it was bright red, I would get myself checked again if I was you, sorry that you are having a crappy time [hsad] But congrats on your baby [hgrin]

Thanks! Seeing gynae on Friday. Why on earth does nature think we'd be ready to conceive that soon afterwards?!?!???
