...and I'm still struggling to control my bowels. Is this normal? when should i start worrying?

You can be taught to do pelvic floor exercises to help this problem - you can ask your GP for a referral to a physio therapist.

Go now and ask, it's never too soon to ask for help.

I am also 5 weeks post-birth (EMCS) and am very much "when I need to go, I need to go RIGHT NOW" IYSWIM! I had this last time too, it went away after a while and some pelvic floor exercises, the MW also told me it was a pelvic floor thing.

my pelvic floors sorted me out in this regard but you need to be persistent.
