I think I'm going to chose an elcs when dc2 arrives in April.
I had an emcs with Ds and the 6 week rule on recovery seemed about right. This time Ds will be 2yo when I have the elcs and I am a bit concerned about looking after him and how long to recover.

How long before you were recovered after your elcs?

Ps dh is planning on having 3-4 weeks off so I'll have plenty of help!

I was out of bed next day (albeit painful and slow)

By ten days I was caring for two DC off school, one newborn and ExH was back at work and gone Mon-Fri.

I drove, walked dog, entertained the DC and coped far better than when recovering from a traumatic vaginal birth a few years earler tbh

Basically, recovery was much much better than after my emcs.

In hospital 3 days (though I have heard of people being discharged earlier than this after elcs)

First short trip to park with dds on day 5 (dh driving obviously).

Doing (light) stuff round house after a week ish.

Back at playgroup after 10 days.

Driving after 2 weeks (to avoid going mad being stuck in house with 2 year old). Driving was absolutely fine, it's lifting pram or car seat in and out of car that is harder.

Dh only off work for a week so after that I just had to get on with it.

Rest as much as you can for the 3-4 wks your dh is off. My 2yo could get in and out of her car seat and was no longer in a high chair so that made life easier (less lifting)

Dd3 is 2 weeks tomorrow. I have pain across my scar today but that is from lifting pram in & out of house yesterday )7 steps)

Every other symptom I have is linked to other affects of pg ( Anemia, SPD)

DD2 is 15 days and feel pretty much back to normal, spent 27 hrs in hospital, was at the park on day 3 (given a lift there) went shopping in Bath all day on day 13. Have no real pain, just aware scar is there but have not lifted DD1 (3yo) and am not in a hurry to drive car as rather enjoying walking!
