Relaxation tips/remedies/preparations for c section - v nervous

I shouldnt' be nervous at all really considering its my sixth section. but perhaps that is why i am nervous.

I feel because its a planned section there is none of the adrenalin that would noramlly get one through an " operation" which is what this is and the fact that I walk down quite calmly into the theatre and see everyone scrubbed up makes me absolutely terrified. Added to the fact that everyone seems to want to stick needles and tubes in you at once. And the epidural of course .....

Im hopefully looking at some relaxations remedies or preparations which will take some of the bite and fear out of this.Anyone have any or used any please?

Hi Lisa, Sorry I dont have any relaxation techniques, I am getting ready to have my 3rd C Section on Friday, 1st was emergency, 2nd elected and for some reason this time, I feel very very scared! dont even know why, Although this time Im having my baby in a different hospital as I have moved to a different part of the UK, and I have not even seen the ward or anything which worries me a little bit just thinking about the whole operation thing makes me feel quite sick! so I would be interested if anyone has any relaxation techniques also

Have you heard of the "golden thread breath"? We did it in yoga for contractions but I found it really helped for my ElCS as the needle went in.

To be honest it was very surreal and there weren't many nerves for me, possibly because I wasn't really taking it all in! All the theatre staff are lovely and friendly, they know how nervous we all are and are so nice.

Thank you for this - referral to golden breath technique. It is certainly something to try. Is anyone aware at all of any homeopathic or other type remedies to use for anxiety and whether they really work?

I'd really like to approach the section calmly instead of hiding out in the loo like I normally do whilst the midwife waits outsdie calling my name in ever increasing desparation!!!

Kitkat2507 - good luck with your section this week - hope all goes well xx
