Strange question I know! I'm just wondering as I always have really hot baths and hate cold water, would it be kind of tepid? Thanks Grin

No, it's really warm. About 37°, I had to get out of mine as I overheated, and I love hot baths too. It has to be hot so that the baby doesn't get a shock. I think 38-40 for the actual birth.

No, it's about 37 degrees which i found to be fine, almost too hot while in the throes of labour. having the heating on will make it feel warmer too.

Warm

Mine was a perfect tempertaure

japhrimel · 14/10/2010 17:20

It has to be around 37C for the actual birth so there isn't a shock to the baby, but can be cooler if you want earlier.

You can labour in whatever temperature you want to - but it needs to be brought around 37 for birth.

I found 34 degrees was perfect for labouring in. But about an hour before delivery I racheted up three degrees as per the midwives instructions.

I was shocked how warm mine was when i got in it, was perfect really though

I am glad you asked this question as I have hot baths too and if it was going to be too cold I would rather not have a water birth..good to hear its nice and warm..I may well consider it now.

luckykitty · 16/10/2010 21:04

Im a tepid water kinda person so this has been bothering me for a while! I am really hoping for a water birth and so have been turning the shower up a bit at a time in order to get used to it! Smile
Given my awful hip pain though I am finding warmer than usual baths a total god-send and the thought of getting into a pool of lovely water for labour gives me hope!
