Can I wash before a strep B test?

Just that really... I've always had bacterial vaginosis from the first time I had sex.. so the midwife said I should be test for strep B

I have to wash every morning (no soap or anything) just because I feel better that way.

This is possibley a stupid question but I have a test tomorrow and can I was beforehand? will it ruin the test results? Are they testing (sorry tmi) the disharge in your vagina or scraping cells off? Sorry for sounding like an idiot..

But if anyonelilbitner knows it would be helpful, I feel really uncomfortable going to have it done unwashed but also want proper test results.

Hi

I'm not sure about the washing- I do 'selective washing' just in case - ie back, front and leave the middle Grin.

My swabs were just low vaginal (didn't even feel it) - though if it's a specific strepb test, I think they do a rectal teat as well.

It should be very quick and not at all comfortable.

I certainly washed before the test and was not told not to... I don't think I could have gone in without washing first :) I don't think that this would alter the result but if you are so unsure meybe give them a call?
