Excruciating pain is usually a good sign that labour has started.

Retrospectively, both times, it was an intermittent stabbing pain in my cervix (well, somewhere in my vagina anyway), a small pain like being poked hard with a knitting needle. Period type pains followed and then are-they-aren't-they type contractions. It was only when my water broke that I was certain.

When my waters broke I was having contractions about every 6 - 10 minutes.

Cleaning with all three dc! With ds2, the youngest, I cleaned the whole sitting room very thoroughly and later when I started having contractions and mentioned to dh he said he already knew it was happening when I went mental cleaning!

I had nothing, no teinges or anything, until my waters broke, then I very quickly afterwards had a show, and then mild contractions began.

Good luck Smile!
