I hear that Whiston is better but dont have experience myself. Two of my close friends had terrible experiences at the Women's last summer (one was on PN ward rather than during labour though).

I had brief experience of 2 midwives at Whiston and they were lovely.

Sorry, not really much help am I?

Hope someone else comes along with more detailed knowledge.

Check out birthchoiceuk and find the quality care commsion survey. you can compare LWH and Whiston(St Helen's and Knowlesy Trust).

I have heard the new maternity unit os great with 3 pool rooms, However, there are beds in all the rooms, even the pool rooms and you will be actively encouraged to give birth laying down (the worst position). The Women's are getting better at encouraging different positions, however both still have high caesarean and intervention rates.

I'd just stay at home (but then check my name out! Of course I'd say that!!:))
