Could I be in labour?

I am 40+3 and have lost my mucus plug - well, it's still coming and started on Wed, my due date. Since Thursday I've had pains in my back, bottom and vagina, like period pains, but nothing in my tummy or tightening of my bump. These pains have got worse since last night and woke me up several times during the night and they do seem to come and go but I don't think I would call them contractions. However, I am a first-timer and have no idea what contractions should feel like! Is there any chance I could be in early labour without feeling pain in my bump?

TIA!

Yes, probably early labour. Could go on like this for a while, so don't get too excited yet! Baby still moving OK?

Sounds like it could be early labour - with my first I had loads of periody pains but not what I thought were contractions but they were the start.

Thanks for swift replies! Yes baby moving loads. I have a gut feeling that it's the start of something but don't want to get my hopes up!

Sounds like how mine started. Waves of period type pain, and back pain. Pressure in your bottom also common I think. Mine started around midday, and I had him by midnight, but you could go a fair little while like this before the second stage. I remember thinking if these are contractions then this is alright!! (They did get, erm, a bit worse....)

Good luck!

yes, deffo sounds like labour to me!

The midwife/hospital don't count it as established labour until the contractions are coming regularly though so I would wait until you can time them and then give them a call.

Good luck!
