Hi

This might sound a bit strange but does anyone have photos of the place where they gave birth if you had a hospital or maternity unit delivery?

I'm trying to explain to American friends what I might expect but I don't actually know what to expect as I can't find any photos on the internet.

I don't know when I might be able to do a hospital tour, if at all, and I certainly wouldn't take photos during one if there were patients around.

Any photos you might have of your room would be helpful both in comparing US/UK birth experiences, but also to help me to make a decision about where to have my baby.

Any help would be appreciated but I understand you might not want to share photos if they contain family members.

Oh actually, can we even post photos on MN???

Confused

virtual tour of maternity services

wow that's brilliant. Thank you so much.

The website for my local hospital is absolutely rubbish. It's all corporate statements and figures with no pictures at all.

So does that virtual tour actually match up with your experience?

There are quite a few on my website-
deverra.blogspot.com/
Altthough it is discussing innovative birth environments, so some of them are not typical.

Sorry, am rubbish at links - if you google 'southern general maternity virtual tour' you'll find some good stuff.

Worth bearing in mind though that the delivery suites are all shiny and new so not sure if it's a true reflection of most NHS facilities.

The wards were much more scruffy! Grin

Grin I always take official photos with some degree of salt. I just wanted to get a general feel for what they're like as I was imagining some stalag type affair with no privacy or comfort!

Thanks for the link to your blog Selina. Did you enjoy the FACT building? I loved visiting it when I lived on Merseyside. I especially liked the sound installation throughout the building and laughed that the building tinkled as you tinkle Grin

(for people who haven't been, the FACT building plays sounds as you move around it, even in the ladies loo)
