Baby fully engaged, how long to wait?

Saw the MW yesterday who said the baby is full engaged, basically all she could feel was shoulders. Feels like a I have a bowling ball between my legs and am struggling to do anything, get up off the sofa, turn over in bed. Am due Tuesday. How long could I be this far engaged for?

I hate the 'not knowing' of labour, I really wish it was more predictable.

i think it was two weeks after this for me, though the bugger disengged again...

Bumperlicious · 17/09/2010 20:06

Oh no, really? Not sure how long I can manage this!

It was 7 weeks for me, but she did engage a few weeks before I was due.

DonDons · 18/09/2010 12:05

1st time - 6 weeks before EDD - baby born 10 days late. This time, I am due in 9 days, baby still 'free'.

Bumperlicious · 18/09/2010 12:35

Really? This doesn't fill me with hope! I thought this meant any day now!

It's quite unusual for babies other than the first to engage fully before labour AFAIK. DS (my second) was still free 2 days before I went into labour.

As I understand it, it doesn't mean labour will necessarily start soon (although it could) but it is likely to be relatively quick when it does happen.

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 18/09/2010 12:41

I am right in thinking this isn't your first, aren't I?

Bumperlicious · 18/09/2010 13:02

Second actually. MW seemed pretty surprised but but said all she could feel was shoulders so definitely fully engaged. Bloody feels like it too! Due on Tuesday.

is it time to recommend brisk walks and nipple teaking yet?

(though not necessarily at the same time)

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 18/09/2010 13:16

Yeah, that sex and floor scrubbing.

Bumperlicious · 18/09/2010 13:18

Walk? I can barely cope with leaving the house at the moment! I'm going to take DD to the park later though, so that might help.

Does nipple tweaking actually work? Is it literally as simple as it sounds? Should I be doing it or DH?

I don't have any erotic literature though, just some old Louise Bagshawes Grin

Could try the library but DH works there so might be a little embarrassing for him...

Anything online I could read? Could you just whisper sweet nothings to me? Grin

well, an episode of The West Wing worked for me (with DH gainfully employed)

Bumperlicious · 18/09/2010 14:22

Ah, we are on the west wing (again) anyway. Will have to get dh gainfully employed though :)

Will see what I can find online in terms of literature.

:) we're on season 7.

it's pretty much the highlight of my day!

Bumperlicious · 18/09/2010 15:29

Just coming to the end of season 6, for about the 4th time! I love it, but it is such a time waster! DH and I tend to watch one or two a night. I forget what we did when we weren't watching it Grin
