Hello,

Just reading some threads on here re Childbirth and have come across a couple which mention booking a private room.

Can anyone tell me how it works?

Thanks!

At your local NHS hospital (well the one's here, they may differ) they have rooms once you have had a baby that you can pay for, from about £30 a night, but you can't pre-book as they never know how busy they are going to be and they also used the rooms if they feel a new mum and baby need to be alone.

You won't ever give birth on a ward with just a curtain for provacy, you will give birth in a private room on the labour ward in a room with a bathroom. After your bundle of joy arrives you are transfered to the main baby ward, it is actually quite nice being with other Mums who have just had a baby like you.

As your midwife what the deal is at your local hospital.

At my hospital you can book a room for £80 per night. If there is a medical case where the room is needed, you will be turfed out and you won't get your money back.

Unless it is a private hospital, you cannot guarantee your own room I'm afraid.

I think it depends where you are regarding the price! I am in Surrey and Epsom Hospital charge £180!!!
