episotomy stitches........how long before they dissolve?

sorry if TMI!!

i had my baby four weeks ago, and an episiotomy was necessary.

the outside stitches have gone but i still have stitches 'inside'. if i put the tip of my finger just inside myself i can feel them. should they have dissolved by now? i'm just concerned that i still have them after four weeks but no-one actually told me when i could expect them to be gone.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

That will be where they have tied the stiches, should be gone in another couple of weeks, if not mention it to your gp at your 6 week postnatal check.

I remember that mine took longer to go than I expected. I also remember that they tightened and became more painful just before dropping out, so that might be why you are aware of them at the moment.

I can't remember when mine went, but I do remember a few of them being really uncomfy and I could feel one or two of them on the outside when I had a bath, so I pulled 2 of them out! Felt much better after

i can definitely feel a knot so it must be where they have tied them off.

will mention it at my 6 week check so my Dr can make sure all is ok. thankyou for putting my mind at ease!

my internal stitches were still causing discomfort 6 weeks post natal, pulled a couple out myself but wouldn't recommend it!
