C-section postponed- RANT

Been in for my ELCS today; arrived 7:30am as required etc etc. Delayed a little, told i'd be next at 11am, then told 2pm. Labour ward then closed but that meant the 2 ELCS could be brought forward I was 'definitely next'.

2pm arrives; doctor arrives to say there was no way they could do section today as too busy, short staffed. Have to rearrange for Monday. I accepted graciously (husband grunted about rearranging childcare for our 16 month old but I reassured him), we'd sort something out.

Then the consultant goes to the lady in the next bay and gives her gown and husband scrubs as she was off for her section!!! I was Angry,Sad,Envy and Shock. I know she was probably higher risk and i'm probably being hormonal but felt completely overlooked, feel awful about going back, gits...

oh no! that must be so disappointing :(

i guess these things can't be helped. and i've never had a section myself but i am guessing you get fairly rared up and ready to go on the big day?

Just a bit, not so bothered about the delay as much as the fact the same consultant who was giving it the doom and gloom to me about no ELCS's today (felt quite sorry for them that they were so understaffed) walked into the bay next to me and said to them in a matter of words 'happy days; you're going to theatre!'

Felt embarrassed for the lady next door as it was so obvious the consultant had completely overlooked what she had just said to me and even the lady next door said she thought it was insensitive. A special moment! Confused

Poor you - but I hope there was a happy ending today. I think they probably had time for one more section, weighed up who needed it the most from both of your notes, and unfortunately for you - it was the other elective section patient. Very, very sucky... but those poor queue jumpers having to have emergency c-sections will be feeling rather more crappy. Trust me I would have loved to have not had to have bumped a mum off her elective section.
