I'm making play lists for my planned HB and need some inspiration.

No idea what I am going to fancy so I am making 3 play lists: Chilled, Classical, and Energising.

Can anyone inspire me? Especially with the classical as I am a bit of a philistine.

First one to say 'Push It' is a rotten egg!

Friend of mine found herself in the second stage with Adam and the Ants 'Stand and Deliver' playing in the background - cue much hilarity from midwives. Grin

We're going with all songs I used to like belting out in the car, I'm hoping if my orgasmic birth doesn't quite happen, I can be distracted by musical cheese.

NO fucking Enya

Like a Virgin?

Energising-

Poker Face- Lady Gaga
Tonight's gonna be a good night- Black Eyed Peas
Move any Mountain- Shamen
Human- Killers
Chelsea Dagger- Fratellis
Crazy- Knarls Berkeley (sp)
Do your thing- Basement Jaxx

Classical- Handl's Messiah. Beautiful.

Thanks all. Sanielle, my energising stuff is cheesy stuff I can belt out. I did toy with a bit of Enya, and Deep Forest Blush, but listening to some stuff last night thought anything even slightly annoying is going to be a million times worse in labour!

Classical:

Bach cello suites v relaxing, although the fiddliness might grate after a while (but then so might everything)

How about some Greig? I can just imagine pushing to Hall Of The Mountain King Grin

Mystere de Voix Bulgares - all those massed female voices might be quite empowering

Energising:

Queen - Don't Stop Me Now

Q-Tip - Breathe and Stop (sorry Blush)

Bumperlicious I had made a playlist on the ipod with all songs I love, all pretty rocky with a bit of Take That cheese and a wee bit of Jeff Buckley chillout thrown in.

In the end I was so fast that didn't have time to get ipod set up, so instead DD2 was born to Mumford & Sons album. I have to say it was great! :)

I've just stuck Cocteau twins and david byrne / brian eno my life in the bush of ghosts on mine. Also got some birth relaxation sfuff from natal hypnotherapy set. Previous dc been born to sigur ros and that goldfrapp felt mountain one

Tho I also took guns and roses appetite for destruction in case I fancied a change. I didn't..

Something with lots of words, like The Killers or Snow Patrol. DD was born to 'Eyes Open' by Snow Patrol. My relaxing stuff just annoyed me. I preferred to focus on words :o

herjazz · 03/09/2010 20:51

Lots of words- what about ebeneezer goode ;)

Mumcah · 03/09/2010 22:13

Classical - any of the Beethoven symphonies

SolidGoldBrass · 03/09/2010 22:21

Ok one to utterly avoid - 'Wires' by Athlete...

It may not be much help but I had a compilation tape made up with friends which was full of songs that were either screaming women like Polly Harvey and Courtney Love or songs that I associated with good friends.
I did have Till Victory by Patti Smith because my DS is called Victory John and I had already picked the name.

(thinks hard of what else was on the tape)

Oh yes, 'I'm A Mother' by the Pretenders.
