Hi all, does anyone have any recommendations/experience of these hospitals? I'm very early on in my first pregancy but it looks like things could get a bit complicated and will require close monitoring and there's a risk of possible termination for abnormailites :o(

The midwife has suggested that I decide now which hospital I want to have my baby in, all being well, so that I can start my monitoring with an 8 wk scan and continue in the same hospital with the same staff. This sounds like a good idiea to me but which hospital. As a newbie to all this I'm looking for any info or advice. My choice seems to be between the three above.

Thanks!

The JR is very good, particularly if there are complications or if anything goes wrong. No experience of the other hospitals though.

Two friends have been to Wexham and were very positive about it. One of them also had a difficult pregnancy.

Thanks Fred. I just realised MN turned my unhappy face into a grin and a bracket. I am not grinning at the possible risk of losing the baby, obviously. Sad

My three children were all born in the JR, I had one high-risk pregnancy and received excellent care there, for which I will always be grateful. I don't have any experience of the other two hospitals though. Are they all equidistant from where you live?

Wexham is the closest to me, followed by Wycombe, but although I could have my checks there I couldn't give birth there, would have to go to stoke, which is about the same distance as the JR, which was recommended to me by the community midwife this morning.

I had home births but ended up in Wexham because of complications afterwards. No problems.

Hope your pregnancy and birth goes well xxx

I have friends who have gone to all 3 and had no problems (well non relevant to your situation - more to do with lack of available water pool at SM, and lack of en-suites at the JR). My own mw (I am 14w) seemed to think SM was great but very busy - I guess they all have their faves! I am opting for Wycombe for antenatal (had my first two there) and SM for birth (c-section). Not much help I know but basically they all seem fine. Only thing that might be relevant is your particular problem and consultant specialisms maybe.

I had my daughter at the JR. I had complications towards the end of the pregnancy and the staff were brilliant - went out of their way to try and help me stick with whatever bits of my birth plan that were possible. I would highly recommend it.
