Signs labour might be coming ...

I have been having extremely bad back pain, nausea and diarrhoea all day. I am 37+4 with (I am told) a very big first baby! Please tell me that my labour might be coming soon, I need some positive encouragement!!

What signs did anyone have before their labour began? Or was it just a rush of water??!

Thanks x

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I had exactly those signs, but also a bad tummy ache which got worse and worse as the evening went on. I actually thought I had food poisoning! How wrong I was, DD arrived 8 hours later!

I had extremely bad lower back pain with DS - like very intense period pain, and could not get comfortable. Contractions started about 3-4 hours after the backache began. They do say that d&v is also a sign of your body clearing out and getting ready - and it can help the baby drop down into position too.

I'm 38+2 and a bit jealous reading your post as it could be it for you!

However, do bear in mind that you could have food poisoning - of the d&v continues the you should maybe get checked out as I think if it's a sign of imminent labour then it shouldn't carry on.

None of that for me - went to bed and woke up with a funny feeling, went back to sleep, woke up again and wondered if i needed the loo, just going back to sleep when funny feeling happened again and I suddenly twigged what was happening....

I did have a good vomit at the hospital though

And my waters had gone 36 hours before although I hadn't realised - must have had hardly any fluid and just dripped (nice!!) MW was saying " nope water's haven't gone" and then said "oh I can see the hair on the top of DS's head"!!!

BUT every labour is different - I hope it is your labour and not D&V....

Do let us know....

I am 39+1 with dc4 and feel pretty nauseous, but I don't really have any contractions at all, though I have had plenty over the past few weeks.

I have been sick during all my labours, but don't remember being or feeling sick before it got going. I was wondering whether it could be a sign of something kicking off soon as well.

i'm 36+4 and been feeling nauseous with backpain, loose stools, period type pain on my lower tummy and lower back, lots of gas, too.

Husband currently away on a biz trip and bag not fully packed so hope there's still some time.

Yours sounds like early contractions. Will see my midwife tom am and ask. Good luck!

God I hope this is it!! Good luck to everyone :) It's getting exciting - I'm going to be so disappointed if I still have weeks left! x
