Can I ask why the preference for a private section?

Have heard so many horror stories of understaffed overworked nhs wards. I think they try their best but just dont have the time or resources.A cousin of mine had a really negative experience at my local nhs hospital, which she is still upset about years later.A close friend of mine also recently had a c section at the same hospital and had to change her own sheets,
she repeatedly had to keep asking for things and was in tears when she kept bein ignored.

Oteng-ntim is fab - had c- section with him at landsell last July. Very gentle, lovely, approachable man - and the neatest scar ever (which he is renowned for apparently)

The whole experience was wonderful from start to finish.

Happy to answer any specific questions.

I had my section at the Portland, and it was a totally calm and positive and painless experience - the best day of my life actually!
I had mine paid for on my insurance, as I had placenta previa. The aftercare was fine, you press a button and someone appears to help you, and it's a very clean hospital with ncie rooms and en suite facilities. Would I have paid £15k for it and almost the same for 3 nights for my son in SCBU? No, it's a LOT of money and it's not perfect but you won't be left frightened/in pain/dirt. You're buying your way from any remote possibility of that.

thanks so much for all your replies, have been out all weekend so just writing back now.Think john & lizzies now delivers its babies at the portland. I liked the portland very much when i went for a tour , well who wldnt! But the possibility of the huge extra costs that could arise if baby needed SCBU worries me as i cldnt afford that. I think i will try oteng ntim at landsdell and the neat scar does sway it a bit!
