Chances of going overdue??

Just wondered......if you went overdue with your first are you morelikely to with second or subsequant babes?

I was induced with my daughter after 14 days and wondered if I should get my head round there probably being a good chance of going over with this one!?

Yes - maybe not as long but definitely strong possibility.

With both our DS's they came at 40wks 6 days. Infact it was the day I was due for a hospital appointment to be assessed for induction so quite a relief. I'm 32 weeks PG now and I'm expecting to go over again although it will be a minor miracle if it's by 6 days again.

Pupuce, that link has filled me with dread. 46 WEEKS, what a nightmare!

But when you think about it.... they let nature take its course - they weren't going for a world record.... if we did not intervene so often I am sure FAR more women would go past 42 weeks. See how many get induced at 42 weeks and even then it isn't coming easily !

I have to admit I have thought about that many times, being induced must be a relatively new thing in terms of mankind and childbirth! Infact I'm sure I questioned it at an antenatal class with DS1 or 2. Can't rememeber the answer I got.

46 weeks still fills me with dread though

DS1 was 11 days overdue - went into labour on day I was due to discuss my induction. I ended up 14 days overdue with ds2 but thankfully has a cervical sweep on day 40weeks +12 days to get things moving. Consultant said I was already 2 cms dilated but ds2 came out covered in vernix and midwifes couldn't believe he was so overdue. They reckoned he even looked slightly premature!

i do have a 18 - 21 day ovulation history in a 32 - 35 day cycle (tracked via persona)and attribute overdueness to that.

Dd1 was 10 days overdue after a sweep, ds2 came 10 days early, to my total surprise, had convinced myself he would be overdue too!

I've had three dds, the first and second arrived at 39wks and I was convinced that my third would be early too but she had other ideas and arrived a week late (felt like forever lol). The plus side was that she turned up on my birthday - I think she waited especially!

My DS was 14 days late and DD was born on her due date which was most unexpected.
