Doula - SW London

Does anyone have any specific doula recommendations for SW London? Am very interested in one of these but a search on the doula website throws up billions.

I had a very traumatic caesarean the last time and really feel I need some support to try for a VBAC. I'm so frightened of hospitals and the whole process that I'm worried that when I do get there I could end up being railroaded.

So any recommendations would be very useful. Or is it just a question of ploughing through until I 'click' with one of them?

hello lovely
sorry to hear about your past birth. i had a lovely doula and have recommended her to some of my friends too - Siobhan Pearce - sunshine doula
i do know that there are q few doulas on here so i'm sure they can help. I went through the list on doula uk and met with a few and really clicked with her
good luck

i know Marcia Lord and Carly Poyser are highly recommended London doulas. both on doula uk. not 100 % sure which parts of london they cover, but definitely worth dropping them a line.

i've read your c.s birth story on here kitswtins, and i do hope things are a lot better for you this time.

nurturingbirth.co.uk also has a directory of doulas.

It depends where you are in SW London. I can highly recommend Alison Silvester as well as Siobhan Pearce.

I think that the best thing to do is to look at the doulagraphies and/or websites for the doulas close to your postcode. Then give a few of them a call to "get a feel" for them.

You see, people can recommend Doulas but only you will know the one that works for you.

Hi there, I'm a doula in SW London/Surrey and would be happy to have a chat with you, whether about my own services or recommending someone nearby who would be suitable. Siobhan is indeed great, a lovely lady. You can contact me through my website: www.birthsavvy.co.uk. :-)

Hi

I'm based in Wandsworth and have c-section, VBAC and natural birth experience. Check out my website www.sophiebrigstocke.com
I am a Doula UK member, trained with Nurturing Birth and friend of Siobhan, Sunshine Doula and many of the others mentioned Wink

I can recommend Lucy Symons (waves at MrsBrig, met you at a doula of the year thingy) who does both birth and post-natal work, alongside hypnotherapy. She will accompany me at my VBAC (fingers crossed) in November.

If she's not available, she knows loads of very good people in the area.
