Silly question - when did your other DCs come visit?

Sorry probably a stupid question but trying to get things sorted on the home front! I'm having an ELCS next Thursday morning after fairly difficult delivery last time, and even worse recovery. I just was wondering how soon your other DCs came to visit you in hospital and to meet the baby. Would later on thursday be ok, or am I better off thinking Friday when I should be feeling a bit more with it? Just trying to sort who has DS (3) and when!

ASAP as far as I'm concerned, but bear in mind your cs might be delayed. Mine was until 3pm so not out of recovery until late in the evening! Probably plan for Friday, but if your cs is early then maybe bring your dc in that day. My DC1 came to see DC2 next morning.

DC1 and DC2 trotted in 2 hours later for DC3 , but that was a home birth so a different matter!

I had DD by ELCS at 9am - DS (15 months) came to visit us that afternoon.

My plan is that they will visit same day. My two are 9&10 though so understand what's happening

DS2 was born at 10am by ELCS - we had dropped DS1 off at nursery in the morning and then gone to the hospital.

DH picked DS1 up from nursery about 4ish that day and came to the hospital with him (the hospital is only 5 mins away) and he stopped for about an hour. In fact we have a lovely photo of DS1 trying to show DS2 some Thomas cards that DS2 had 'given' DS1 as a present Grin

I think you need to be flexible about it - plan for later that day but obviously it will depend on when your ELCS takes place as I wouldn't have been able to cope with DS1 much earlier!!

I had DD2 by ELCS 2 weeks ago. I was in recovery by 3pm and DD1 arrived at 4pm to see us briefly, with my parents, for a 20 minute visit. Although she was not certain about seeing me connected to drips etc and looking slightly worse for wear it meant that she had met her new sister so when I was released from hospital the following day she knew what her sister looked like and the initial introduction had been done before we got home. It worked well for us but I suppose it depends on whether your hospital are happy for you to have visitor while on the recovery ward.

I'm having my ELCS next Thursday too! We've got my mum flying over next Tuesday, so she'll be having DS (3).

Our plan is that DH will go home and collect them once I'm up on the ward and settled in a bit. I have said to mum though we'll be playing it by ear, and they may have to wait until Friday, depending on how everything went.

I think flexibility is key, so I would make plans for someone to have your DS whatever happens.

Best of luck to you for next week!

DD born at 9am, DS came to visit at evening visiting time (about 4 o'c I recall). Was very sweet, him peering into the crib. DD and I went home the next day, and I think coming to the hospital helped DS understand where DD had come from (the doctor gave her to me, apparently).
