Hi

has anyone has a midline lateral (diagonal slanted) epis in first pg then gone on to either not have any epis done in subsequent pg or did the scar tissue from the first epis tear a bit or totally or did they choose to have an elective epis if the mw saw it was tearing

if they cut along the same scar line does this extend even further and how is the healing second time round in the same place?

thanks

I had a mediolateral (diagonal) episiotomy in first birth.

Dr said that having that scar there increases chances of needing another episiotomy. He gave 50% chance.

I did not like see odds and had an elCS.

... like these odds...

I had episiotomies with my first 2 births (both in hospital) but not with my third at home, no tear either. I think I avoided it the third time because the midwife wanted to avoid it, whereas the hospital midwives didn't seem to see it as a big deal. My last baby was the biggest too.

I don't think the scar got any bigger the second time around.

hope that helps
