I am probably being really stupid, but can you use a paddling pool as a birth pool?

It's not generally recommended as it's not deep enough or strong enough for the purposes you need - as you need a good depth to get the full benefits! The birth pool ones come with handles and you are able to sterilise them efficiently, whereas paddling pools might not be sterile enough (as there are thought to be some risks of infection to the baby from the water). Try here www.homebirth.org.uk/water.htm for some further info.

I have a birth pool if you would like to buy it with the pool kit for 120 dollars. It cost over 200
