takes a few weeks.

tooproudortoostupid · 04/08/2010 12:45

2 weeks

sunndydays · 04/08/2010 14:14

mine went down pretty much straight away, was back in my jeans within a week, I suppose it is different for everyone

LooL00 · 04/08/2010 15:02

DC3 is 5 weeks today and I can finally do up my favourite skirt and shorts. Not comfy but at least I can now get into them.

addie81 · 04/08/2010 16:17

I'lll be pleasantly surprised if mine ever goes down given how huge it is at the moment (31 weeks).

zazen · 04/08/2010 16:20

After a crash section it took me forever and a lot of physiotherapy.

If you're worried about it and your pelvic sling, book yourself in with a post natal physio.

BionicB · 04/08/2010 16:31

Don't worry - mine took AGES. I had emerg c section and was massive beforehand as polyhydramnious. At 6 weeks I met NCT group and they all looked tiny and I was still huge. As sunnydays says, it is different for everyone. I got very depressed when I read in bounty booklet that 'at 2 weeks your uterus will have gone back to its normal size'...

Now at 6 months I feel like I don't look pregnant anymore! But think it will be a few months before I can get into my favourite old clothes...
Breastfeeding helps things shrink back I think.

Octaviapink · 04/08/2010 17:05

About 5 weeks, I think, but I was bf-ing a LOT.

Oblomov · 04/08/2010 17:14

a month or so. bf'ing helped, i think. lost all my pg weight very quickly , for no real reason.

BettyButterknife · 05/08/2010 07:56

Oh good - not just me then

I was polyhydramnious too, BionicB and utterly enormous.

It's just weird when you think that the baby, fluid, placenta etc have all gone - what on earth is left in there making me look so huge??

Uterus went down very fast, muffin top is clearly here 9 weeks on!

beckie90 · 05/08/2010 13:11

mine was flat by 6 days after, put 4 stone on and lost the 3 and half stone before he was 6 days, for god knows what reason, must have holded alot of water.

LadyN · 05/08/2010 16:26

Mine took about a year ...but that could be down to all the chocolate I ate {wink]

SqueezyB · 06/08/2010 18:08

I'd say by 5 wks i'd stopped looking pregnant and just looked a bit fat! DD2 now 7 weeks, lost over 2 stone but still another stone to go and weight loss has slowed to about 1lb a week Sad

beanlet · 06/08/2010 18:13

I'm still going down at 4 weeks and counting, but I'm still bleeding too. Plus I put on lots of fat, so that's going to take ages :(

FoxyRevenger · 06/08/2010 22:01

Was almost back to normal when I left hospital. That's a gestational diabetic diet for you!

maighdlin · 09/08/2010 13:43

my dd was a year old on fri and my belly has never recovered. its the oddest shape now

Chathappy · 09/08/2010 20:06

It's meant to go down afterwards?? Grin

Seriously, after both of mine it took a good 6 weeks for me (c sections - don't know if that makes any difference) but I found it hard to judge too as I put on so much weight anyway. I did lose it both times in the end but it took me a good few months to get back in my old size 10 clothes.

Belly never really looks the same though even after training for a marathon!

Expecting dc3 now - 4 weeks till due date so not looking forward to my post pregnant body once again!

BionicB · 11/08/2010 17:36

BettyButterknife - yes I am sure being Polyhydramnious makes everything bigger and therefore it takes longer to go down - whatever 'it' is, as you say! I suppose the muscles (muscles Biscuit?) get used to being out and then have to adjust back to normal.

Though I would be happy to be a 'back in my jeans after a week' person, I am not and I think that it's important that you give yourself 9 months to lose weight that took 9 months to go on (don't know what my excuse will be when DD is 10 months Grin)

MassiveBumperlicious · 11/08/2010 17:56

Oh god am dreading post pg body! I just keep flashing back to the first time you stand up after having the baby and everything just hangs like an empty sack, bleughhh! Not looking forward to it. Especially since I made the mistake of weighing myself yesterday and have put on 2.5 stone, and still have 6 weeks to go!

londonmackem · 11/08/2010 18:02

1 year and 2 weeks later I don't look very pregnant just a bit fat - sorry not really helpful!
