No case load at St Georges, Tooting?

I'm confused.

I had my booking in appointment today at St Georges. She asked me what kind of care I'd like, I said caseload, she said they don't do that here. She said they don't have midwives who deliver. I was sure I'd read they do but I couldn't remember the details. So I get home and read about the Carmen Suite. Is that not caseload? Whatever it is, its what I want but I didn't seem to be given the option. Whats going on?

yes, book to go to the carmen suite. not sure if it is called caseload though...?

That's weird - I'm booked in at St George's and was told the Carmen Suite is the midwife-led unit - ie midwife delivery. I was recommended to go there over the usual delivery ward by my midwife at the 16 week appointment. Perhaps discuss it again when you have yours?

Carmen Suite is MLU but don't think they work on a case load basis.

Are you anywhere near Streatham? If so, the Valley Midwives work on a caseload basis - but into St Thomas's as they're Lambeth based. They support homebirth if you're thinking of it, I don't know if they attend hospital births but will at least provide continuity of care for you throughout your pregnancy.
