Contractions have started... Do I try to get some sleep or stay up bouncing on the ball??

I'm 40+10 today with DS2, had a few contractions last night but not much to speak of.

Started up again at 4.30pm today, every half an hour to begin with, becoming more frequent when I was on the birthing ball (anything between 3-11 minutes apart, lasting anything from 15 seconds to a minute). They tail off or stop when I stop bouncing.

The irregularity of them obviously means not established labour, so I'm wondering what to do next - take myself off to bed to get a bit of rest before it really gets going, or carry on bouncing? WWYD?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

go to sleep - you'll need it

depends how desperate you are to get labour going really. i would say you will need the sleep but if this goes away and you end up being induced you might regret it.....is it your first baby?

Sleep!

Second baby, first was only 40+4, but it was DS1's birthday today and I think my subconscious brain hasn't allowed me to go into labour until that's over and done with!

DS1 is safely tucked up in bed at his nanna's house tonight - was hoping he wouldn't have to spend two nights there if it could be avoided.

If nothing happens now/overnight/tomorrow I'm being assessed in hospital on Tuesday and would probably ask for a sweep, before induction probably Thursday.

With DS1 I had two nights of pre-labour, with contractions stopping during the day, and a reasonably quick labour of 6 hours in the end. Was blooming knackered by the end of it though.

sleep then! It sounds like it will happen for you soon...

To bed it is then. I've started watching Sherlock and am a bit sucked in, will have to extract myself!

Sleeeeeep! All the best!

Morning. Nothing since the contractions stopped

DH convinced me to have sex this morning, and we're planning a long walk later, and possibly a drive down a bumpy lane.

What else can I do? I can't believe I'm 11 days over my due date! I never thought this would happen to me...
