40+3 and I feel like I'm on a drug comedown...

I'm nervy and anxious, and I've completely lost my appetite, and I keep bursting into tears.

The only thing I can liken it to is when I once took ecstasy and this is just like the way I felt the following day. So something is obviously changing in my brain!

Does this mean labour is imminent? Anyone else experienced this sort of thing? What's the best way to calm myself down? I feel wretched.

It sounds to me like it could be a sign!

I felt really well through my pg, loads of energy worked right up to my due date still doing 12 hour shifts, very physically active etc. Then when I was 40+1 I was exhausted all day, no appetite, no energy at all, felt quite fed up and sorry for myself. I couldn't understand why as I had been so lucky throughout the pg, until I went into labour that night!

I have a theory that your body knows that you need to conserve energy when labours imminent. Keeping everything crossed for you!

Hi Betty! I hope it does mean that, but speaking as someone who is currently 40+6, I don't (personally) think it's helpful for one's emotional state to second guess every symptom or possible symptom. As far as I'm concerned, whatever happens (obvious horrific disasters excepted) I'll be holding my baby in my arms by early next week when I'm induced. If I go before then it's a bonus.
