Big Niggle at just 33 weeks ...........

I have been in hospital for a couple of days as having a big niggle and it looked like dc4 was making an early appearance. Fortunately I have had both doses of steroids for the baby's lungs and he is quite happy inside.

My cervix is 2cm dilated, soft and short and my bump is very firm and a bit contracty now and again. I have been told that anytime something could happen, or maybe the baby might hang on for a while.... it is a wait and see.

Has anyone else here had this sort of experience? My last two born at home really easily on time so tbh i am really shocked i am even in this position.

My dsis had her baby at 5 weeks and he spent 2 days in scbu and then she stayed in a room with him for 10 days.

Hi tarty - not sure if this helps but I had a show at 37 weeks yet didn't have ds until nearly 41 weeks. I think my mucus plug just came away gradually rather than all in one go. So it may not mean labour is imminent.d fingers crossed for you

the thing us even if it takes 3 weeks i will still be too early for my homebirth etc etc so am gutted. I do have a history of being truly quick at having a baby and i have already been in hospital twice now. I think it is time i stopped pretending this isn't going to happen and try and get my had around it all.

Hi Tarty - not the same situation but I am now unlikely to have a home birth (bp issues) and its a bit of a shock isnt it when things went well last time. I am starting to think the tricky third babies thing is true!

I started having a show a week ago (am 36.5 weeks) and no baby yet. At 34 weeks though baby has an excellent chance of being just fine . Might need a bit of help with breathing and feeding but certainly not a disaster. Have a look for 34 week birth stories on here.
