Hello all, I am 36 weeks today with my DD2 and very happy. The first thing I hope is that she will be healthy and fine but ... one terryfing though I keep having is about her not sleeping well. My DS1 was a treat: he slept long overnight hours since birth and, as he never suffered of teething, I can honestly say that I have never really missed a night of sleep with him. Will DD2 be the same? Of course no one knows. But what's your experience with your LOs???

Many thanks all

My first didn't sleep well until she was on solids. She needed lots of night feeds and was hard to settle due to reflux/colic. She didn't have much of a pattern for day time sleeps and I felt very on edge with it so wasn't great at the 'sleeping when the baby sleeps' thing.

From 6 month her night sleeping has been brilliant but days never great. Dropped day naps at 2.5.

By the time she was 4 months old I thought I was going insane as I love my sleep but I survived and will again if I have to. This is why I waited until she was 2 to ttc, needed that long to recover! Hoping I get one like yours this time though.

you might not want to hear this but I think your ds was a very rare breed of baby. Of ocurse you might produce another like him but you might want to prepare yourself for some broken sleep. Sorry.

Congratulations though

Yes, EasilyConfused, agree . Maybe this is why I have started this: sharing experience is a nice way to cope with difficult situations. I know my DS is rare. He was very big at birth (10 11) so maybe this is one of the reasons that he was such a good sleeper (and now that he is 4, I can tell that it's also because he is the lazier boy I have ever met )

I am very of your rare child . Well dc1 fed every couple of hours at first, including over night, during growth spurts he would feed hourly. Gradually he dropped feeds though without any intervention and by 6 months was sleeping all night. Then we moved house twice in a row and it all went wrong but the less said about that the better! Dc2 is 18 months and has slept all night twice in her entire life, having to get up 10 times a night to her is nothing unusual at all.

My first slept really well - mostly 11 hours from 11 weeks old onwards. She's still a really good sleeper at 6yrs.

DD2 was never so good, seemed much more random and a lighter sleeper also. Can't remember, but it seemed many months before she slept through the night regularly.

Never had any trouble with teeth with either of them though - maybe that's genetic, so hopefully that'll be the same with you also.
