Period Pain in the night - 36 + 5 with 1st baby - what does this mean?

I've noticed much more frequent braxton hicks tightenings recently and have had period pain/lower back pain coming on and going in the night. Sat night had very painful lower back which made me get out of bed and walk about, this didn't relieve the pain but it went away itself after a few minutes but was then followed by period type pain which went away after a few minutes. Last night had a few minutes of period type pain. Nothing really during the day that I've noticed apart from the more frequent BH.

Does this mean that labour is not too far away or could this go on for weeks? Has anyone else experienced similar? I'd be really interested to hear other people's experiences.

Have not had any other signs (no show, no bowel emptying, no rush of energy).

I had period pains the night before I had DS. He was born at 10.30pm the following day. I don't remember period pains with my first though, but then I was clueless at that time, so may have had them without noticing!

I had quite frequent strong braxton hicks for about the last month of pregnancy - had BH before that too but not as strong. My (first) daughter was born on a Thursday and from the Saturday I had fairly strong BH - I had no idea she would be born but just thought my bh were getting a bit stronger which could only be a god thing. She was a week early.

I also (tmi) noticed more discharge than usual - the beginnings of a show - from the Monday - some gloopy blobs in my pants - completely clear still but these were obv the plug starting to come away. Started getting regular cx on the Weds evening (but had no idea - silly me - thought they were BH) then the next morning at 4:30 am I woke up with bad perod like pains lower down and ran to the loo about 10 times...cx then were actually 3 mins apart and quickly that became 2mins.

Anyway ramble ramble - what I mean is this could be the start of the start if you see what I mean! Good luck...

Wow - I will have to do some pant checking for blobs (tmi) but I have also noticed more discharge!

Maybe this one will be coming early! Am almost 37 weeks so everything should be fine I guess :-?

Yes all should be fine - once you get to 37 weeks you are officially term anyway...Could be a while yet - your body could just be gettng ready for it all. Good luck!
