The Show - just how big IS it?

Okay, so I've had the most frustrating stop-start couple of weeks, with two false labours, three sweeps and a lot of one off very painful braxtons (as well as a huge, fidgety baby) and SPD which is fast becoming a nightmare at night.

I had a 'bloody show' about a fortnight ago now, and since then, every few days I've been getting a bit more of the mucousy stuff, though not with blood, fresh or otherwise. It's mostly come following sweeps, but I had some more the other night without having had a sweep.

Just wanted to know how much of this thing there should actually be, really. I don't remember getting a show at all last time, as my waters went at 39 weeks and I had to be induced when the contractions didn't rev up.

Frankly, I'm beginning to associate the word 'bloody' with 'show' in a wholly non-descriptive sense. How much more can there be? Does it grow back or something?

Have nothing to add - am just tagging on as I'm interested too.

Am 40+6 today and I think I had a show last night - twas a lump of clear jelly type stuff but it had no blood - does the absence of blood mean that it wasn't a show?

There's been nothing since!

From the Monday before my daughter was born I noticed more discharge than usual - the beginnings of a show - some gloopy blobs in my pants - completely clear still but these were obv the plug starting to come away. Sounds a bit like you GwennieF. I only started having a bloody show - tbh I started getting quite a lot of thick bloody stuff once I was in proper labour. Not blood until then. But the jelly stuff was an indication it was all starting to fire up. Good luck!
