Painful epi scar?

Had an episiotomy 6 months ago and the scar is still quite sore. DH and I can't have sex as it's too painful and it is not getting better with time. Have spoken to my (useless) GP who said nothing can be done apart from waiting. Just wondering if anyone on here has had the same problem and used creams or treatment to speed up healing of the scar tissue etc?

I had 3rd deg tear not epis, but my strongest recommendation would be to see another GP and then put in a complaint to your practice manager about the 1st. That is crap.

I needed re-cutting and re-stitching under GA (after idiot me let the student midwife suture)and tht helped a lot. Giving birth again helped a lot more. Best of luck to you, and make sure you get the help you need.

I would go and see a different GP as LittleSilver said.

It could be a few things causing your pain.

I had proud flesh/granulation tissue on my epi scar which caused me to climb the walls frequently. However once I went to the GP @ 5 weeks it was resolved very quickly and has been 95% fine since - just the very odd twinge.
