This may be a long one i apologise and appreciate any advice.
I have a just turned 4 year old, but for the last 6 months his way of thinking and attitude to life has just completely changed and is getting worse. He seems to overthink everything we do to the point it just takes the fun out of everyday and what we try to do with him.

Examples
starting swimming lessons (loves water just been on holiday) his first initial reaction: But what if it’s deep and what if i’m not allowed to wear armbands and what if all the children are bigger than me…this goes on for a good 5 minutes whilst he works himself up.

Hes playing downstairs and i’ll go upstairs to get the washing basket/clean up. His reaction: He runs upstairs shouting that he thought i had left him (he does this a lot)

Going for a family day out like a fair or theme park. His reaction: what if everything is too big for me, what if it’s all too high, what if people look at me and i don’t want them to (we get this a lot)

Amyway i could go on and on, but also to add he goes to pre school 4 days a week and they have said they notice he questions everything but not much more?
He is extremely loved, i would say has had a gorgeous childhood so far, we try talk to him about all thoughts and feelings, but nothing has seemed to help? There’s been no changes in his life that i can pin point this to. I just worry as he’s starting school next year and i can see it being awful already as he just doesn’t like change as it is.

Has anyone’s little ones been similar? I always get comments from friends and family how
old he is and thinks for his age and we do know this. I had really bad anxiety as a child but was a lot older at 9 and it was due to parents splitting, i want to be able to help now, or am i overreacting because i did have anxiety? 😥

You are thinking this way because you have also gone through this all, so it is better to get a therapy for your child.

Does humour help at all? My 4 year old gd somet8mes asks about death...as in and next year gm will you be dead? I just laugh and say i hope not but if i am ill be a star in heaven and looking after you. Hiw do you respond?

I don’t know what to say really but don’t dismiss the feelings. So probably need to just answer the questions and offer the reassurance.
