Could my daughter be copying a friend's repetitive behaviours at school?

A few days ago my child had her birthday and she set up a party where she invited a few neighboring friends and one friend from her class.

I noticed that his class friend was showing a few repetitive behaviors, for example she touched the table and kept doing it many times, she was flapping hands and tapping feet several times, first I thought it is due to excitement of cake cutting but then later on I noticed that behavior again that day.

Now the concern is that I observed my child also flapping hands a few times in the previous days although she never did it before.

Is it that her friends' behavior is having an impact on her and she is learning through modeling that or could that be something serious? I am more worried because she is her only friend of my daughter and most of the times they beth are together in school.

Possibly. Your child will learn, model, adopt from their friends. Thats totally normal development.

Yes, I noticed my own DS doing this when in the company of another boy who was stimming and hand flapping. He didn’t realise he was doing it. I only ever saw him do it a couple of times in his company .

If they spend most of their time together it’s odd that your daughter has only just started copying.
