Since going back to school (into year 5) my son’s been struggling a lot, but I can’t help feel it’s more than just school.

Over the summer he had a significant growth spurt (approx 4+ inches)

Hes switching between SO angry (with seemingly no trigger) and completely loosing it and then in floods of tears. broken sleep, struggling to sleep, then waking early. Or on the odd occasion sleeping in (never been the case ever!!)

Tonight he looked at a photo of himself as a baby and he was sobbing uncontrollably.

I have an idea as to what I think is causing it but wondering if anyone else confirms my suspicions …

(Awaiting an appointment to meet with school).
thank you

I don’t know what’s causing it, but I hope he settles soon, poor kid… and you for trying to cope with it… I’ve taught my son to write out his frustrations on paper, and that helps us… paper is non judgmental

Could it be hormones and puberty hitting? Poor boy, doesn’t sound very nice for you. Sending love as I have no advice

This is what I’ve been thinking too.
I wish I knew what to do to help.

Dear OP, I am sorry you are dealing with this. I had my share of mental health battles with my kids and I know how it hurts. My only advise is, do not ignore it and hope it will go away. I am not sure about UK but where I live everyone is talking about mental health, but actually getting help is still very hard. However, getting help for kids is still much easier and more streamlined than it is for adults, so I would use any and all resources that there are to get to the bottom of it, sooner rather than later.

Take care.
