How did you first realise your child might have ADHD?

I’ve been wondering whether my child could have ADHD, but I’m not sure if I’m overthinking normal childhood behaviour.
There are things like difficulty concentrating, getting distracted easily, struggling with routines and being very restless at times. Some days are much easier than others, which makes it even harder to know what’s normal.
For parents whose children were diagnosed with ADHD, what were the signs that first made you consider an assessment? Did you speak to the school or GP first?

I think signs are different in all children but for mine…

never slept- 4 hours max, even as a baby there was literally no napping

got the zoomies usually around early evening time

would start talking about something and mid way through switch to something else and then back again and then onto something different then they couldn’t remember what they were on about and either be completely nonchalant and walk off or lose their shit

So well behaved in school and then literally get in the car and full on meltdown

Could not be told what to do in any way shape or form

Couldn’t be laughed at

Couldn’t other homework but could spend 5 hours making a bug hotel or picking weeds or something so random just basically anything but homework

loved just doing sports and that’s all

Never ever sat still. Not even in the car- leg bouncing l, finger clicking, cheek biting etc
