My ds is 9 years old and has lost all interest in doing anything anymore to the point getting him out the house is very difficult. He's always done clubs from a young age but over the years has dropped nearly all of these except golf. For context I've always suspected autism health visitor picked up on this too when he was younger and so he was put forwards for an assesment however his assesment took place during covid when he thrived and was like a different child so he didnt meet the criteria for autism despite displaying many symptoms. As hes got older especially this last year things are getting really difficult he refuses to go to school refuses to leave the house even to do something he used to enjoy and with his siblings all he wants to do is stay home. When it is term time he is very withdrawn wont eat at the dinner table with the family wont talk shuts himself of from everyone and just stays in his room half term he is slightly better he will talk and seems more happier in himself but still does not want to leave the house im getting really concerned now and worried for his mental health and not sure what to do going forwards im worried this is only going to get worse school say he is fine once there however have taken my concerns seriously and referred him to the mental health team although im still waiting for an appointment from them. Has anyone else been through anything similar and have any advice? My eldest son has adhd and autism and he is the complete opposite loves doing as many activities as possible and is very social with people he is familiar with so ive no idea how to help my DS.
