Secret eating

DS is 11, found a cereal bar wrapper down the toilet last night. Probably sounds stupid but have noticed a pattern around the house of hiding wrappers of late. Often wont eat dinners, is bringing home bits of lunches and throwing them away. I suppose it's kids being kids but my gut feeling tells me something else is going on. I've asked questions but met with total blankness from him. Any advice would be appreciated thank you!

Try offering meals in a different room to eat by themsleves.

If they've not eaten their meals then it's no surprise they need snacks.

Are they saying they're not hungry, or they don't like the food at mealtimes? If they won't eat your cooked meals can they just heat something up, do a toastie, something beige? Or get them into cooking the things they enjoy.

I wouldn't pressure them to eat things they don't want to as that can make things worse.

Also tell them not to put food wrapping down the toilet or you'll need a plumber and he'll be paying for it out of his allowance.

Try talking to him gently without pressure so he feels safe opening up. If it keeps happening, it could help to check in with a teacher or doctor.
