hi folks. my 18 yr old daufgter is really struggling and has been for a long time.

She eventally agreed to go to th doctor who linked her to a mental health course online which she had to complete before any further discussions. she did that but didnt find it useful and doctor prescribed sertraline.

my daughter is getting worse, she says she feels dark inside all the time and i recently found out she is self harming. i found a stanley knife by her bed and she then showed me her arms ( i hadnt realised that for a couple of months she had been wearing long sleeves to hide this and i had never seen them)
she had deep cuts from her writsts to her elbows (with some older scarring and very new)

she finds it hard to talk about what al is going on for her and i dont know any longer what to do to help her. she has said she would consider couselling - the doctor has said that as she is now in adult servcies - the waiting list is around 18 mths - 2 years.

can anyone remommend glasgow based female counsellor???

Look on the BACP website for qualified therapists near to you. You can filter for specialisms to find someone who works primarily with young people or with experience working with people who self harm. I strongly recommend you look for Dialectical Behavioural Therapy for your daughter, it’s one of the most recommended treatments for people who self harm.
